I'd like to start by saying that I finally have texting. Unlimited Style. So now I have all those nonsensical things that used to cost me 40 cents every time. Somehow, I feel less satisfied with having texts. IDK what it is exactly, but now I feel like one of the aspects of Stanley Fung was lost on that day. I was looking at my past texts and almost all of the time I would respond to a text with a "Dont text me back, it costs me 30 cents" or 40 cents when they raised it. Then about two months ago they were gone completely, i couldnt text even if i wanted to. I wonder where those texts that were sent to me went. Maybe Germany?? LOL. just kidding but yea, point is now i have texting on my phone, it's really not that amazing, for those of you who text a whole buttload.
After my first Semester at Umass I have learned a few things and drawn certain conclusions out of them. These are those of which I speak:
Conclusion Number 1:
Completely Logical people become irrational as Lack of sleep amounts
People, when they graduate highschool, are at the top of their class, bright as a bulb, sharp as a tack, but when they come here, I'm not sure what it is but they either get stupider or something clicks that says they dont have to work as hard, or maybe they are working just as hard, but more is required than in their highschool. At the beggining of the semester I would meet everyone and they would be all cool and stuff, but then as the term dragged on strange things would happen.... homework assignments would be passed in late, incomplete, or not done at all. Projects and Labs would be half ass and just look shawty. And dialoge exchanged became either overwhemingly about how they are failing, on the brink, or depressed thoughts of dropping out. Dreams were shattered and well as Erik would have said, we're runnin' low on hopes and spirations. Just remember, for those of you goin to college soon, or are just in school. If you want to live out your dream, just remember, YOU CANT HAVE ANY DREAMS IF YOU DONT GET ANY SLEEP.
Conclusion Number 2:
If you know someone who isnt going to be on campus next semester, offer to take some of their things off their hands so they dont have to move as much.
So it's like 2 AM Friday Morning Finals Week, I am done with my finals, but am stayin up just for kicks and giggles. It's my last thursday you know? So Bryce, my RA is a supersenior in his 5th year as an engineering major. He's done with his Undergrad studies so he's not gonna be livin with us next semeseter. Too bad I guess. So Davis runs in and goes "Yo Bryce is sellin his fridge for 20 bukcs" I go ".....................O damn" grab my money from the place where i Hide my money and make my way to the end of the corridor to Bryce's room. We sit, well he sits and i stand at the doorway as we negotiate prices for his stuff. At the end of the hour, I had a fridge full of rotten food, a Bookshelf, and a smelly carpet for $45. GREAT DEAL!!!!! I mean i spent an hour cleaning out the fridge and ill prob have to vacuum the carpet when i get back, but I mean that was wicked cheap. You guys should take advantage of anything like that.
Conclusion Three :
If you really don't have to, dont get a ride from someone else back home (assuming their parents are driving)
Lori, I'm sorry, but yea. Never ever!! The first reason is because the other person may promise you a ride, but their parents may not nessisarily want you there. The reason for that is because their child has gone away for X amount of time and they want some like alone car ride time with them. Maybe they want to talk to them about something, just dont interrupt. Take the bus. it's only $27 one way (Boston - Amherst)
On a side note, if the student is driving, there's really no good reason for you not to get a ride, unless you like paying money to a bus company that encourages you to stay like a child, to go home from school and then back again.
Conclusion 4:
Never Fall Asleep in a bed with your Laptop by your side
I'm sure it seems fairly Obvious but it is definetlty worth saying. The guy that lived next door to me, Endri, fell asleep one day with his laptop on top of his lap and when he woke up it was on the ground, the screen was cracked, and it no longer functioned. Enough Said.
Conclusion #5:
Although you never took your trash out at home, or even if you did, you still have to remember to do it in your dorm, especially if you leave your trash near your door.
I must say, this one seems pretty obvious as well, but I mean, the trashroom is all the way in the basement, and you live on the 15th floor of some building, dont want to do it, still have to. Nobody wants to be friends with the smelly kid.... STANKY!! But yea, just do it. And on that note i would like to add to make sure your Laundry bags are closed, seriously, i know some of you people think you smell awsome, but honestly, your dirty laundry does not. IT REALly doesnt. Just make sure it's closed.
Abschluss sechs:
You will find people that have a lot in common with you and very little in common with you, but everyone tends to be pretty nice give them a chance.
To be honest, in a normal situation, I would have never approached most of the people in my dorm, ever, like i would have never attempted to talk to them. Not to be offensive or anything, Off first glance I might have talked to Tony out of everyone in the hall.
At first, everyone is a little bit akward, and like hesitant to meet people, and then you're in a big group setting because theres like a dorm meeting or something, and then one person, ONE PERSON!!!! starts talking to another, and then you feel really akward, cause you're not doing anything and that person is. You feel kinda bad for that guy he's talking to but you feel an obligation to talk to someone else. It's wicked quiet in the room and you just want to leave, but i mean, you're living with those people for two semesters you mind as well get to know them now, cause i mean you're gonna have to meet them eventually, try to do it before spring semester.
This also applies for people who dont live with you.
Conclusion NUMERO SEVENO (I'm running out of things to write about so this will be the last one) :
People say "Try new things", but honestly, think about what you're trying.
Lori, I love you and all, but there is nothing good about Hummus. I was at shaw's today and i was like oooOOoO Hummus, Lori likes this, it cant be that bad, she's azn, im azn so our tastes cant be that different. So i had some like 20 minutes ago, it doesnt taste like anything.....Lori I just dont understand what is so special about it, it does not add anything to the cracker except a cold feeling on my tongue (probably because i just took it out the fridge) but still....nothing. This goes for other things too, just because people say it's great doesnt me you should buy in. Simple enough, use your head, "You're going to college to get smarter" as Pops would say.

ULTIMATO CONCLUSIONO (my spanish is amazing!!):
Never boast about a grade which you got, nor discuss about how you "raped" "killed" "destroyed" "PWND" "tamed" "owned" or "ANNIHILATED" a test or exam.
The reasoning for this is simple, but yet many find it difficult to refrain from such actions. I have been on both ends of this spectrum. On my first Physics test, I feld like i bombed it and well everyone else seemed to feel very confident about their performance. Honestly, this does not bold well for your confidence, never put anybody in that position, of shame, of disappointment, of loss of self worth and fell badiness. I once also spoke too soon about my second physics test and did what was done on me to somebody else, and you dont want to make a cloud hang over someone else's head for the next few hours, days or weeks. Just dont do it. OPPOSITE NIKE!!!
Well overall though, first semester went pretty well barring some late labs (which i did on time but forgot to turn in) and some late nights (doing HW). My grades I estimate are in fair standing, and well, i hope i havent lost touch with anybody over the 3 months i've been away. Well, I tink it will be a while before I post again so you should read this one thouroughly if you can. Gnight.
